Its long-lasting charm has stemmed in part from emulating one of the greatest joys of photography: witnessing and capturing moments it felt like you weren't supposed to see, like a group of Charmander performing a synchronized dance inside a volcano. Instead, Snap has always been about the joy of discovery and uncovering the secrets of the Pokemon world without interfering with it.

Pokemon Snap has nothing to do with catching or battling with Pokemon, and humans aren't at the heart of its story. Save data in the cloud is also always appreciated, even with physical cartridges.The Nintendo 64's Pokemon Snap has held a special place in my heart for over 20 years, partially because there's nothing else quite like it in the Pokemon franchise. Still, being able to share images and scores with other players sounds like plenty of fun in its own right. There's always the possibility that there are additional online features not yet known, but as the days to launch shrink, so does the likelihood that this is the case. The store page also advertises save data cloud functionality through Nintendo Switch Online. Players will be able to share their scores to the online rankings and compare them globally. Each photo taken in-game has a score based on Pokémon type, pose, angle, and more. The other online feature touted is an online leaderboard. Of course, the Switch has a built-in screenshot folder, with the option to upload captures to Facebook and Twitter so this is expected.

The first is the ability to share photos taken in-game with friends and family, with pushing the pics to social media likely set to be a big component of the game's marketing. There are currently two known uses of internet connectivity in New Pokémon Snap.
